Leisure Takers
In 1800 the average English worker laboured for 64 hours a week. “In the 19th century you could tell how poor somebody was by how long they worked”.
but now the rich work more and more - there are multiple reasons for this - the illustration shows one professional who enjoys his work so much he continues late into the night. consequently, he has more cash than his poor counterpart, shown consuming "passive entertainment". 2006 study shows US household with income of more than $100,000 indulged in 40% less “passive leisure” (such as watching TV) than those earning less than $20,000.
